STREET ART STILL EXISTS!
The Project took place last September but the art is still here...
By Bob Johnson | Bob_Johnson@mlive.com
The project is funded by a $25,000 grant awarded by the Bloomberg Philanthropies Asphalt Art Initiative Grant, which annually chooses 16 small- to mid-sized cities across the U.S. to fund “visual art interventions,” according to Bloomberg Philanthropies.
Through this grant and the art it creates, the group hopes to remake Saginaw streets, improve public safety, inspire people, attract visitors and enhance the quality of life for residents, a press release from the city said.
Artists working on the asphalt murals are Lark Allen, Nyesha Clark-Young, Stephan Hargash, Geoffrey Pelkey, Laura Mettam, Jesse Schmidt and Tristan Zamora.
“I am a mixed-media artist with a strong interest in community-based projects. I believe that The Great Mural asphalt project is an excellent way to promote and bring awareness to the diversity of the Saginaw community and the many things this city has to offer,” said Allen, lead artist on the project.
Court Street will be closed from 7 a.m. on Sept. 26, to 5 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 28, to provide adequate time to complete the murals and to allow the paint to dry.
Social distancing guidelines will be implemented and face masks are required when inside local businesses.

Mothers Day: a day to remember MOM
Family history begins with our parents, mostly our mothers and our grandmothers, who taught us family traditions- thru every dish they made

THIS ISN'T THE COVER PHOTO, BUT ITS MY PERSONAL FAVORITE!
OF NOTE: In the US, Mother's Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May each year. The idea started in America when a woman called Anna Jarvis held a small memorial service for her own mother on 12 May 1907. Lots of other countries celebrate Mother's Day at different times of the year as well.

gHOST TOWN OF lAWNDALE
by Mike Sonnenberg
Many years ago there was an old sawmill town on the corner of Tittabawassee and Lawndale. Nothing of the old town remains, but I have driven thru there many times in my lifetime, and I would say Tittabawassee is one of the busiest roads in Saginaw County. I wonder if anyone else knows about the long forgotten town....

These Genealogy Sites are Providing
Free Resources During the Pandemic
Most of us are aware of the importance of social distancing during this difficult time in history, and are staying at home to protect ourselves and others. And, while the coronavirus pandemic is causing emotional and economic stress for us all, it is important to find ways to relieve our worry by taking part in activities that lift our mood and help us stay connected (virtually).
That’s why those of us at Family History Daily are so glad to see several genealogy companies and organizations stepping up to provide free access to a wide variety of documents, images, courses and tools to enhance research while we all self-isolate. We’re proud of the family history community for pulling together to support one another and hope these resources will bring a smile to your face.

Lost orphans: How one woman found the forgotten students of Michigan School for the Deaf
By Scott Atkinson | FLINT, MI -- Ermina Hagerman could not have known she was sending her children to die. It was November 1885, and it was a desperate time. Her husband, Charles, had died just a month before. He had enlisted in the Civil War at 14, lying about his age, and had survived it all. But now at 34, he was gone, leaving Ermina — or Minnie, as she would be known all her life — alone with their four children....
