Outgoing President:
Nancy Pavlik

Nancy has been the backbone of our society for more than a few years now. She has always been a voice of calm, and reason. She has paved the way for the new webpage and supported many changes that helped to modernize the society. Nancy has had many other responsibilities outside of the SGS, but felt it was time
to pass the title on. However, she has taken on the role
of one of our three Directors now. A big THANK YOU
Nancy for your years of service!

The out-going Director this year is:
Dorothy Netzley

We all at SGS would like to thank Dorothy for her years of selfless service and dedication to the Saginaw Genealogical Society. Dorothy was always a big help to the society, willing to take on extra work when needed and always with a smile. WE LOVE AND MISS YOU DOROTHY!

HIDING THE PAST
by Nathan D Goodwin
Picture
PETER COLDRICK HAD NO PAST; that was the
conclusion drawn by years of personal and professional research. Then he employed the services of one Morton
Farrier, Forensic Genealogist – a stubborn, determined man
who uses whatever means necessary to uncover the past.
With the Coldrick Case, Morton faces his toughest and most dangerous assignment yet, where all of his investigative and genealogical skills are put to the test. However, others are
also interested in the Coldrick family, people who will stop at nothing, including murder, to hide the past. As Morton begins
to unearth his client’s mysterious past, he is forced to confront his own family’s dark history, a history which he knows little about.

THE 5 FORGOTTEN WARS
You’ve heard of the Vietnam War, but what about the “secret war” in Laos? Over 16 million members of the Greatest Generation fought in WW2, but what about the 5.8 million Americans who served in the “Forgotten War?” History is full of conflicts that have become footnotes in American history books—if they make it in at all. Here are five secret or forgotten wars that are commonly overlooked.

Free Resources
During the Pandemic

Most of us are aware of the importance of social distancing during this difficult time in history, and are staying at home to protect ourselves and others. And, while the coronavirus pandemic is causing emotional and economic stress for us all, it is important to find ways to relieve our worry by taking part in activities that lift our mood and help us stay connected (virtually).
That’s why those of us at Family History Daily are so glad to see several genealogy companies and organizations stepping up to provide free access to a wide variety of documents, images, courses and tools to enhance research while we all self-isolate. We’re proud of the family history community for pulling together to support one another and hope these resources will bring a smile to your face.
So come on and get happy!

Man Desires Genealogical Society in His Home Town
Picture
Dr. Richard E Mudd
Do you recognize this man? He started what became a 50 year COMMENCEMENT. And a "commencement" is
defined as a 'new beginning'. And this is what they did:
The 10 Best ways to a new beginning
  1. Try new things. If you don't try, you will fail.
  2. Don't be afraid to fail. Learn from your errors.
  3. Talk to strangers....they will soon be friends
  4. Be willing to change, change brings insight!
  5. Write a personal mission statement....we did.
  6. Don't try to fit in....genealogists are just different.
  7. Gather opinions together, to cultivate new ideas.
  8. Don't get hung up on perfect, answers will come!

Watch for updates each month on what happened,                   how it all began and who began it all.
